Private voice-to-text for macOS

Speak to any text box, locally.

Cadence is a native voice workspace. Because our AI model runs on-device, your voice never leaves your Mac.

3-day free trial, no card needed. Apple Silicon, macOS 15 or later.

One private workspace for everything you speak

Cadence covers the three places voice turns into work: quick dictation, long meetings, and recordings you already have.

Write by talking

Hold your shortcut and speak into Mail, Notes, Slack, ChatGPT, your editor, or any text field. Cadence types the finished text at your cursor and preserves your clipboard.

Leave calls with notes

Record your microphone and system audio as separate tracks, then get one chronological transcript with speaker labels instead of a raw wall of words.

Turn files into transcripts

Drag in a voice memo, interview, lecture, or old call recording. Cadence links to the original file and transcribes a copy, so your source stays where it is.

Built not to lose recordings

Audio is written to disk while you speak. If the app or Mac crashes mid sentence, Cadence can recover the recording on the next launch.

Local AI, included

The transcription model ships with Cadence and runs on your Mac. No upload step, no remote queue, no per-minute cloud meter.

Cleaner text when you want it

Optional on-device AI can create a one-line summary and polish stutters, filler words, and false starts. Cadence still works normally when that is off.

Three inputs. One searchable transcript library.

Cadence is simple at the surface, but it is organized around the way spoken work actually arrives on a Mac.

Dictation

Hold Fn or your own shortcut and speak into the app you are already using.

Meetings

Capture your mic and system audio, then merge both sides into a readable transcript.

Imports

Drop in existing audio without moving the original file.

Local model

Transcribed on your Mac

Cadence turns audio into text locally, keeps every transcript in your library, and can copy, polish, summarize, restore, or delete when you decide.

Privacy

Your recordings are not a cloud product.

Cadence was built local-first from the start. The transcription model comes with the app and runs on your Mac. Optional cleanup and summaries use Apple Intelligence on-device. Your audio and transcripts stay in a folder you own.

  • No account required to start using the app.
  • No audio upload step, ever.
  • No per-minute transcription billing.
  • Background music can be ducked while call apps are left alone.

Questions, answered

Is it really private?

Yes. Transcription runs on Parakeet TDT v3, an on-device model bundled with Cadence. Unlimited use, nothing sent anywhere. Optional AI cleanup and summaries run on Apple Intelligence, also on-device. No account, nothing tracked. One network request ever: the initial model download.

What do I need to run it?

An Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 15 or later. The optional AI cleanup and summaries need macOS 26 with Apple Intelligence turned on in System Settings. Cadence tells you exactly what is missing in Settings. Dictation, meetings, and file imports all work without it.

Why are the AI features not showing up?

AI cleanup and summaries run on Apple Intelligence, which needs an Apple Silicon Mac, macOS 26, and Apple Intelligence enabled in System Settings (under General). If any of those are missing, Cadence disables the AI toggle and shows the exact reason in the Settings footer. Every other feature works without it.

Which languages does it understand?

English, German, Dutch and 22 more European languages, with the language detected automatically as you speak.

How does the free trial work?

Download the app and the trial starts the moment you open it. No card, no account, nothing to sign up for. You get every feature for three days. After that, enter a license key to keep going. Your recordings stay on your Mac either way.

Monthly or Lifetime?

They unlock exactly the same app. Monthly is a subscription you can cancel anytime. Lifetime is a single payment with free updates for good.

Can I use it offline?

Yes. Once your key is activated Cadence keeps working without a connection, and only checks in on the license now and then.

How do I activate my license key?

Your key arrives by email right after checkout. Open Cadence, go to Settings, select the License tab, paste your key and click Activate. It validates on-device and works offline after that. You can find your key any time in the customer portal. Need help? See the activation guide.

Make your Mac listen better.

Use Cadence for dictation, meetings, and audio files for three days. Your voice stays on your Mac the whole time.
